Reporting on flaws and limitations of a solution help show that while the reporter is trying to inform their audience about this possible solution, they are also trying to make their audience aware of the possible drawbacks of implementing these solutions. They show that the reporter is not trying to put these solutions on a pedestal, but cover them in their entirety and maybe even encourage their audience to draw their own conclusions of whether or not the solution is worth using with the limitations. The journalists also might be encouraging further solutions by exposing larger audiences to the problem, generation more possibilities for improved solutions.
