Since 2002, the Knight Center for Journalism in the Americas at the University of Texas at Austin has led professional training and outreach for journalists in Latin America and the Caribbean.
We have helped independent journalists in the Western Hemisphere to create a new generation of associations and other organizations to elevate the standards of journalism in their countries.

Programs
Journalism Courses, the Knight Center’s distance learning program, offers different modalities of online courses for journalists for free or at a low-cost. The Knight Center is the world leader in massive open online courses (MOOCs) and a pioneer in the field. In 2003, the center started offering online courses for journalists and since 2012 it has served almost a quarter of a million students from 200 countries and territories. Our world-class online courses have helped journalists adapt to the demands of the rapidly changing media ecosystem, affected by the digital revolution.
Research Group
Research Group
The Knight Center Research Group is focused on issues related to journalism and press freedom in Latin America and the Caribbean. The research fellows are faculty, graduate students and alumni of the Moody College of Communication's School of Journalism and Media at the University of Texas at Austin. Current and past Knight Center fellows have been conducting research on Latin American media issues for several years, resulting in the publication of peer-reviewed journal articles and conference papers, as illustrated below in the scholarship list.
